There was a day that I would have never stated that line, “Fall in love with Jesus” … I was so caught up in wanting to fit in with the “IN” crowd, making sure that whatever the plans were for the weekend that my outfit was as ‘revealing’ as it could be, my hair and makeup was to par, and I looked ‘appealing’ … even though I was married with kids - I am not proud to say, I was most definitely living a life in the flesh, the here and now, the social one always wanting to be the center of attention. And boy, would I try to be the center of attention, on the bar or the dance floor, the spotlight was what I was looking for.
I am not proud of those days, in fact, I am ashamed. But WOW has it shown me how much God has transformed me. My heart, my life, my desires, my purpose on this earth… and HIS AMAZING GRACE in my life … He is So So Good to me.
I think back of so many places in my life, that I honestly believe that I shouldn’t even be alive. Nights that I had been drinking and got behind the wheel of the car. Waking up in places where I didn’t know anyone, and making choices that put me in situations where only His divine hand protected me from. I am So Unworthy of His love, and His forgiveness. He has protected me -
Psalm 91, … (My favorite Psalm)
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Because He gave me the power of free will in my life, I used my freedom to do what I wanted, when I wanted, with who I wanted… What has that done for me now?… It has fully opened my eyes to HIS goodness in my life. He has purged, removed and quieted my life, pulling me closer and closer to HIM, and the reality is, I am the most joyful I have ever been. Living in the shelter of His arms, has given me a peace that I cannot even explain. A Peace that I always heard other people talk about, but never really understood it, or grasped it.
Now, my days may be busy, but they are completely focused on what He needs me to do. I no longer look for or long for the acceptance of others, but desire to continue to Fall in love with Jesus. He is the keeper of my life. He has opened my eyes to living with humility, setting aside my pride and being completely transparent and vulnerable with Him.
It has changed everything for me, true peace that has no explanation and that passes ALL understanding. It doesn’t make sense, until you are living in it, you won’t understand.
So, I invite you to Fall in Love with Jesus.
Thank you Lord, for your mercy in my life, as undeserving and unworthy as I am, I will give you mine with All that I am, until my very last breath.
In Jesus Precious Name,
Amen.
